Tuition

~ Lessons are $21/ half hour.  Payment for the entire month is due at
the last lesson of the month for the new month via cash, check, or
money order, even if there is a credited lesson.  Payment is due
whether you are at the lesson or not.
~ 3 weeks are $63, 4 weeks are $84, and 5 weeks are $105.  Checks and
money orders should be made out to me (Theresa Bollhagen).
~A late fee of $10/ week will be charged for every week that a payment
is late.  If the monthly fee is not paid in full, with the late fee by the
BEGINNING of the second week of the month, no lesson will be given.
Make ups will not be provided due to a missed lesson because of late
payment.
~ There will be a $30 charge for any check returned by the bank.
~ If you are canceling for any reason when the payment is due, you may
only take off ONE week.

Cancellations and Make ups
~Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance.  Make ups will NOT
be given to those that cancel less than that, except in cases of sickness

(One per every 6 months)
or a death in the family.  You can cancel via
my cell phone, email, text message, or by leaving a message at the
store.
~ONLY ONE LESSON PER MONTH WILL BE MADE UP OR CREDITED.  This
includes cancellations for sickness, sports, and vacations, but does not
include cancellations due to a death in the family.  Bad weather
cancellations
will not be credited!
~ Lessons can only be made up only within 4 weeks of the cancellation.
If make ups are offered but not taken, you forfeit the make up.  If the
make up is cancelled, no other make up will be offered.
~ If I cancel, you can either make the lesson up, be credited, or do not
have to pay for it.

Lateness and No Call/ No Show
~ If a student is late, he or she will only receive the remainder of the
lesson.
~If a student is 15 or more minutes late, the lesson is considered
cancelled.  No make up, credit or refund will be given.
~ Two no call/ no shows will result in the loss of your time slot.  No
exceptions! This includes make ups.
~Consistent lateness, cancellations, and/ or a no show will result in the
loss of your time slot after a verbal and/ or written warning.  The
student must learn that being on time and showing up is important, and
that starts with the lesson.

Other
~PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THE LESSON WHEN THEY’RE
SICK!!   If they were sick enough to stay home from school, they are sick
enough to stay home from the lesson.  Please think of the health of
others!

~If you decide that you don’t want lessons anymore, please notify me
at least
one month in advance so I can fill the time slot.
~The student may take extra lessons at any time, provided I can fit him
or her in.
~Summer dropouts will be put on a waiting list, and will be taken only
after summer students have a night slot for fall.
~ Time slots will not be held for more than 3 weeks of cancellations in a
row
unless that time is paid for.

Lesson Stuff

Practice

~ The student is expected to practice consistently in order to move
forward.  For beginners this is 15- 25 minutes a day, 4-7 days per
week.  For intermediate students this means 30- 60 minutes a day, 5-7
days a week.  For advanced players, this means 1-2 hours a day 6-7 days
a week.  If you’re not sure what level your child(ren) is, please ask.
If practice is not done at home (and I can tell!), it will be done at the
lesson, and no new material will be given to the student until he or she
practices at home.  If the student consistently does not practice, you
may want to reconsider lessons
, and I may reconsider teaching the
student.  Please remember that the lesson is for learning- it is not like
sports practice.

What They Need
For Lessons…
~ Students must come to lessons with an instrument in proper working
order, books, and other learning materials, picks (guitar students), and
money to replace broken strings.

~Every student must have at least one book to learn from, and/ or a
piece or song to work on.  All books and pieces or songs must be brought
to every lesson.  Unless the student is a very beginner, he or she will
need at least 2 books.

At Home…
~When the student learns 8th notes, a metronome will be required.  It
does not have to be fancy or expensive.

~ A tuner is highly recommended.  A Korg tuner/ metronome will save
you lots of money.

~ The student must have a music stand at home, and a sturdy, armless
chair to sit in where their feet touch the floor. Violin students should
stand during their practice, unless they are in an orchestra, in which
case both sitting and standing are encouraged.  Guitar students who are
or would like to be in a band are also encouraged to stand for at least
part of their practice.
